Femund 600
A big surprise last night when the Femund headquarter published the news about Barbara Inauen’s start at the Femund 600 instead of Emil.
The Femundløpet has a long tradition in Norway. The long distance race starts in Røros over 400 km in the 8 dog class and 600km in the 12 dog class. It is together with the Finnmarkslopet the biggest race with the hardest competition in Scandinavia.
After the impressive triumph in Grande Odyssée two weeks ago mushing insiders and press expected Emil and his dog team as one of the main favourite of the title in the 2010 Femundløpet and a possible first winner from outside of Norway.
Unfortunately, without success Barbara tried everything (legal) to get him back in form. The strong Swiss had to take a hard decision as his infection didn’t heal fast enough.
But sport is life; things coming different from time to time. Therefore, we get very excited after Barbara’s last minute decision and the following entry yesterday short before the mandatory driver meeting. We will follow her to the start with bib N°62 short after 01.00 pm.
