For the third time La Grande Odyssée, this unique mountain dog-sled-race is taking place again in January 2008. The 'SWISS Longdistance team' will start again.
With a program of more than 800km distance and two new race destinations LGO will be longer than in 2006. But over the entire program includes another 6800 meter climbing plus and makes the race with 26'000 altitude meter climbing more difficulty than ever.
After the best European ranking in 2005 with the 5th place and his first week lead until the accident happen in 2006, Emil will be a big player for the title this year.
Attracting ten thousand of spectators, LGO is standing for the human resistance of the modern against extreme winds, weather and cold in the high range of the Alps. The spectacular race route, which is typical for the Alps, reminds on the altitude profile of 'Tour the France'.
