Finnmark 05
The World`s Northernmost Sled Dog Race!
For the first time Emil will start the Finnmarkslopet in Alta Norway march 6th 2005.
Finnmarkslopet – The World’s Northernmost Sled Dog Race starts every year in Norway close to the North cap since 1980. Unique for its extreme weather and storms, low temperature and the arctic landscape the very pure trails and the tough competition from Norway makes the longest race in Europe difficult for teams from outside Scandinavia.
Still an adventure the teams travel hundreds of kilometers far up at 70° latitude north. Frozen lakes and rivers, tundra without any trees to break the winds, endless flats and one after the next mountain tests musher’s and their teams every year anew.
In Norway the Finnmarkslopet still is number one in dog racing all over the world. It maid be more difficult to win Finnmarkslopet than Iditarod. Minimum it is a qualifying for the last great race but for sure the best way to prepare a strong team for Alaska.
