Fernie BC
Powder in Canada, a familiar term for all the Freerider. Normally we're looking forward to it for years, make the first plans, save up for being able to pay for a Chopper once there. Normally that is...
Mike Zwahlen, Teacher
"I've been traveling to Munich with Emil Inauen to attend ISPO for Rossignol. That's when we met. Four days later he called me, asking my to fly with him and a photographer to BC. My furthest trip so far was a drive to Trondheim. 10 days later we took off."
Gaudenz Danuser, Photographer
"Snowboarder in Norway or Skier in Canada? Actually, at the same time, I could have been working on a story in Norway. Emil's offer to fly to Fernie was clear and tempting right away. I didn't have a lot of time to decide. I just said yes."
Emil Inauen, Freerider:
"My friends Sonya und Mali have been living in Canada for years. Each time when I travel there, I visit them. For 2003/04, I'm planning a project in Alaska and the Yukon Territory. The trip to Whitehorse I could easily connect with the "free riding story" in Fernie. Rossignol was suggesting taking another skier from Switzerland along, so I was asking Mike. If Gaudenz wouldn't join me, I would have to get two Photographers in Canada, but he said yes and so every thing worked out fine."
