Graubünden 3000 - Take off, fun and cold food - At last we were off. The long-awaited start of a many months ago spun idea of the project Graubünden 3000, took place on the Weissfluhgipfel in Davos at 11.00 am.

Symbolically, not yet at 3000 m (2985) was the official beginning of Graubünden 3000 sealed with some speeches by Gieri Spescha (Graubünden Tourism), Hans Peter Michel (Governor), Maria von Ballmoos (representing board of Davos), Emil Inauen sen.

Politics, press, friends and family were present to send the two climbers with best wishes on their long journey through the Grisons mountains. After many kisses, press photos and interviews Emil and Walter were able to take off and start the summit marathon.

A sunny slushy ski run down to Klosters first, furter on to Monbiel and then they started to climb up to the Silvrettahütte with skins.

It was already dark when Emil and Walter arrived in bloody deep fog with use of the compass the hut. Despite telephone arrangement to the annoyance of both burned not even a light in the hut. After a long search they found in an adjoining room a cold remains of soup. Dead tired from the long day and the last weeks of preparation enjoyed the Davos mountaineer duo the sparse food and then went to bed.

Fortunately, the hospitality of the SAC huts was excellent in the following weeks, the fog and bad weather, however, should pursue us through the entire time.
